Cruz gets standing ovation for call to defund Planned Parenthood; American public is ready
After only the first investigative video release from the Center for Medical Progress, the American public has expressed their grief, outrage, and shock over Planned Parenthood’s harvesting and sale of baby body parts.
Over the weekend at the 2015 Family Leadership Summit, presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz got the first “spontaneous standing ovation” of the entire event as he called for the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Cruz called for cutting off “every penny of taxpayer funds,” urging the Department of Justice to end partisanship and investigate Planned Parenthood. Cruz, a former Texas Solicitor General, called on local and state prosecutors to prosecute Planned Parenthood for their crimes.
The Hill’s campaign blog reports:
The American public is eager and ready to throw off the chains of taxpayer dollars that bind us to the abortion giant. Over $1.4 million tax dollars a day is extracted from our pockets and sent over to Planned Parenthood.
The public is saying enough, no more. We no longer want death and blood on our hands. Abortion violently destroys innocent lives, harms vulnerable women, and rips families apart. And now, we know that in addition to committing abortion, Planned Parenthood also profits off of the sale of ripped apart – and sometimes intact – baby parts.
Even pro-abortion politicians, and pro-choice advocates and writers are calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Twitter and Facebook have swelled with trends condemning the baby part sale. And, the public has seen past Cecile Richards’ damage control attempts, recognizing it as one-too-many deceptions from Planned Parenthood.
Pro-life and pro-choice people are agreeing that this is too much to handle. The time for Planned Parenthood is over, even for many of their once ardent supporters.
